José Escobar

Jose David Escobar Franco, a journalist and internationalist, began his career at the investigative journalism outlet Cuestión Pública, covering cases of corruption and abuses of power in the Colombian Congress. At Cuestión Pública, he was a member of the investigative team for "Juego de Votos," a multimedia special that won the Digital Media WAN-IFRA Latin America Award in 2022. Franco has also worked at El Espectador, covering international news, supporting the opinion section and contributing to La Disidencia, a project of El Espectador (the first of its kind in Colombia) dedicated to covering LGBT+ issues. Escobar's work is characterized by a focus on gender and human rights, and his areas of interest include migration, LGBT+ rights, gender, racism, international organizations and Colombian diplomacy. Franco's latest project was the special feature "Cambié de opinión" in which opinion columnists wrote on topics about which they had changed their minds.
