Along with seven other journalists, Monteiro founded Marco Zero in 2015. Monteiro uses this platform to produce investigative pieces on topics such as human rights, democracy and freedom of expression.
From 1999 to 2015, Monteiro worked as a reporter and editor of social networks for the newspaper Diario de Pernambuco. Monteiro teaches journalism, photography and design at the Universidade Católica de Pernambuco and Centro Universitário dos Guararapes.
Monteiro received the AMB Journalism Award in 2010, the Sebrae Journalism Award in 2008 and 2010, and the BNB Journalism Award in 2008.
We exposed corruption and human rights abuses working in a cross-border network supported by ICFJ.
