Growing up in a vibrant, multicultural, multilingual, immigrant community was a major catalyst for my interest in international affairs, social justice and the importance of telling stories. I’m deeply passionate about helping people lead healthy, safe and fulfilling lives and believe that supporting independent journalism is a foundation for that.
At ICFJ, I work on several programs that support journalists from across the Global South – in particular from East Africa and South Asia – to tackle issues of mis/disinformation, the impacts of climate change and gender inequality. We aim to support the development of journalists through hands-on experience in newsrooms, and offer mentorship to further their journalistic careers.
About me: After earning my bachelors degree from Middlebury College in international global studies and environmental change, I joined ICFJ as a program assistant. At Middlebury I studied the interrelated drivers of environmental injustice globally, as well as its intersections with gender and sexuality.
Previously, I have worked alongside communities in Chicago, Vermont and Chile on community development, organizing and advancing various climate change issues.
One of my proudest, most recent moments in my career was organizing a conference in Santiago, Chile for nearly 70 rural environmental advocates with the goal of empowering women leaders, expanding participant networks and hosting workshops on mental health, conflict resolution and collective mobilization.
