Monica Lopez

Program Manager, Innovation and ICFJ Knight Fellowships

I support the ICFJ Knight Fellowships, a global network of entrepreneurial journalists and technologists who spark news innovation and experimentation worldwide. I provide financial and logistical support for the Fellowships and help coordinate the review processes for the Knight International Journalism Awards. I also manage the ICFJ Knight Twitter and Facebook accounts. (Check us out at @ICFJKnight.)

My background: Prior to joining ICFJ, I worked as an operations associate at The Loft at 600 F, a Washington, D.C. event space. I managed event proposals for local and international companies as well as nonprofit organizations.

I have a bachelor’s degree in international studies and a business minor from Virginia Commonwealth University. I am passionate about human rights, and concentrated on social justice issues in much of my coursework, which led me to joining ICFJ in the effort to help journalists strive around the world. I am fluent in Spanish.
