Engy Azzam
Engy Azzam was a 2014 ICFJ Professional Fellow from the Middle East, on the program "Unlocking the Economic Potential of Digital Media." She is a journalist and communication professional specialized in health, housing, women and children’s issues, education, and tourism. As a journalist, she worked as a reporter for Egypt’s Al Shorouk newspaper from 2008 to 2010 and as an editor for the lifestyle magazine Cairo360.com. “This gave me experience in dealing with various communities,” Azzam said. Azzam provided services in marketing to Viewpoint Communications and public relations for Sekem organic products. Azzam directed her skills to social causes as a communication assistant for Egypt’s National Child Rights Observatory and as media and communication officer for the UNDP Mine Action Project working to remove land mines from northwestern Egypt. She now serves as media and communication consultant for Egypt’s Chamber of Engineering Industries with duties including communication strategy, speech writing, media production, and fundraising. Azzam holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and master’s in health journalism from Cairo University and a master's in business administration from École Supérieure Libre des Sciences Commerciales Appliquées.
