Hend El-Behary
Hend El-Behary was a 2014 ICFJ Professional Fellow from the Middle East, on the program "Unlocking the Economic Potential of Digital Media." She has written news and economic stories in English and Arabic for many Egyptian newspapers and their websites. For Al Masry Al Youm newspaper’s English website in 2010, she wrote about electricity outages, conflict within the judicial system, and the popularity of marriage matchmakers. She worked as a reporter and translator for Youm 7 newspaper’s English edition and as a beat reporter for El Watan newspaper covering the 2012 presidential election.
El-Behary developed a specialty as a business reporter, writing about the economy and the stock market for the English web editions of Al-Ahram newspaper, Daily News Egypt, and currently Al Masry Al Youm. She also writes feature articles freelance for the English websites of Anadolu News Agency based in Turkey and Majalla magazine based in the U.K. She holds a bachelor’s in English journalism from Cairo University where she is pursuing a master’s in journalism.
