Mohammed Saeed
Mohammed Saeed was a 2014 ICFJ Professional Fellow from the Middle East, on the program "Unlocking the Economic Potential of Digital Media." He has varied experience in business journalism as a reporter for television, print and web, as well as working in Egypt’s stock exchange. He began his experience in TV as producer and editor for the Arab Business Channel, as a translator and editor for the Sawatel news agency serving TV stations in the Arabian Gulf, and as a correspondent and editor for the private sector-owned ON TV channel in Egypt. He additionally has been a correspondent for Saudi Arabia’s government-owned Al Ekhbariya satellite channel since 2009. Meanwhile he contributed economics articles to Mubasher news website and Amwal Al Ghad magazine in Egypt. From 2010 to mid-2014 Saeed gained an inside perspective on the financial industry as senior media officer for the Egyptian Exchange, responding to media inquiries and producing bulletins and press releases in Arabic and English. In mid-2014 he was hired as the business reporter in Cairo for Al Arab News Channel owned by Saudi Arabia’s Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal and based in Bahrain. He is helping the station build its video archive before its scheduled launch in late 2014, when his role will be covering developments in Egypt’s economy, markets and business sector. Saeed has a bachelor’s in journalism from Cairo University, where he is pursuing a master’s degree.
