The dangers faced by journalists around the world have been a prominent subject in the news lately. From reporters captured by ISIS to those whose computers have been hacked by their own governments, attacks on journalists come in many forms.

The Journalists at Risk (Periodistas en Riesgo) online platform, created by award-winning journalist Jorge Luis Sierra during his ICFJ Knight Fellowship, tracks assaults on journalists and bloggers in Mexico. El País, one of Spain’s highest-circulation daily newspapers, featured the platform to illustrate the alarmingly high number of attacks Mexican journalists have experienced over the past two years.

“The new website works like a database where you can check the numbers of attacks filtered by type and entity,” the article reads. “The map distinguishes between physical, psychological, legal and digital attacks, each with several subcategories.”
