The International Center for Journalists has named Oren Levine as its first Director of Innovation. An engineer by training, Levine will further enhance ICFJ’s digital journalism programs and strengthen internal expertise and systems. He will play a crucial role in reinforcing ICFJ’s position as a leader at the intersection of high-quality journalism and new technology.
Levine has extensive experience working at media and technology companies. Before joining ICFJ, Levine was a senior product manager at Trove, a company that developed web and mobile applications to engage readers around news. Prior to that, he managed an educational media website at PBS, and developed and promoted mobile platforms at Nokia. He has worked as a software developer on a variety of projects in virtual reality, machine translation, and interactive web experiences.
Levine holds two engineering degrees – a Master of Science in Computer Systems Engineering from Northeastern University and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
A native of Washington, Levine plays jazz piano with different bands, often performing his original songs.
