ICFJ Scholarships for ASU's Howard Center for Investigative Journalism Editing Program

With funding from the Scripps Howard Foundation, ICFJ is offering full scholarships for Arizona State University's (ASU) elite Howard Center for Investigative Editing Program. Through instruction from ASU experts, this 12-module online course will equip you with the skills to guide hard-hitting watchdog journalism.  

Learn to:

  • Develop and guide strong, impactful investigative project ideas
  • Construct compelling investigative stories in any medium
  • Organize your team's workflow throughout the investigative process
  • Bulletproof stories and work with legal counsel

Perfect for experienced editors and reporters looking to advance, or journalists wanting to sharpen their watchdog skills.

For Scholarship Recipients:

  • Join exclusive ICFJ-led virtual discussions with your scholarship cohort to connect with fellow international journalists and meet with prominent speakers from the field.

The Howard Center Investigative Editing Program begins June 30, 2025.

Scholarship applications due May 6, 2025.

Please note:

If selected for a scholarship, ICFJ will help facilitate your registration for the course through ASU. 

If not selected for a scholarship, you can still enroll in the program at your own expense directly through the ASU website (full tuition cost).

Application Requirements:

  • Applicants should be mid-career journalists (at least 5 years of investigative journalism experience)
  • Must be proficient in the English language
  • Application open to journalists from around the world
  • Freelance journalists may apply
  • Applications must be submitted via the ICFJ application form to be considered for the scholarship
