Improving Data-Journalism Skills in Morocco

In October 2016, the International Center for Journalists, in partnership with Code for Africa, will bring together 75 journalists, editors, technologists, civic watchdogs and digital designers in Casablanca, Morocco, for an intensive, three-day data boot camp.

ICFJ Anywhere: Branding for Media Professionals

As a part of the Unlocking the Economic Potential of Digital Media program, the International Center for Journalists organized a six-week online course on January 15, 2015 entitled "Branding for media professionals." The online course, created especially for this program, aimed to teach the 29 participants how to use digital tools to build their "brands" or promote their enterprises by cultivating an image or reputation.

Unlocking the Economic Potential of Digital Media

The Professional Fellows program is open for professional and citizen journalists, media business managers, digital media entrepreneurs and technologists from Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The accepted fellows will be asked to create media business models that harness the power of digital tools to generate sustainable new revenue. They will be matched with expert U.S.

Story Contest for Best Coverage of Vaccines

Journalists in Sub-Saharan Africa, Pakistan and the Gulf States have a chance to win a trip to the United States or cash prizes as part of three regional competitions to recognize the best media coverage of vaccines and immunizations.

Stories published or broadcast in Sub-Saharan Africa, Pakistan and the Gulf States between March 15 and May 15, 2013, which includes World Immunization Week (April 24-30), will qualify for the regional contests.

ICFJ Anywhere: Investigative Journalism for Arab Journalists

Journalists from across the Arab world have the opportunity to participate in a new online training course on investigative journalism, offered by the Al Jazeera Media Training and Development Center, in cooperation with the International Center for Journalists. The course will be held from April 30 to June 10, 2012 and is open to Arab journalists working in print, broadcast and online journalism.

Persian: Business and Economic Reporting Modules

ICFJ developed four training modules on business and economic reporting in Persian via IJNet. These self-study courses engaged participants in interactive learning activities at their own convenience. The first module, "An Introduction to Business Reporting and Writing" was launched in May 2008. ICFJ also launched a second online business and economic reporting courses in Persian.

Crisis Reporting: Deeper, Broader, Better

ICFJ administered a five-week Arabic online course on crisis reporting. The course, which took place April 15 to May 20, 2008, explored various topics, including natural disasters, humanitarian interventions and health crises.

ICFJ Anywhere: The Use of Digital Tools in Public Service Reporting

The International Center for Journalists is offering an online course on the use of digital tools in public service reporting, which will be held from March 15 to April 25.

The online course is the first part of a program that will bring together professional and citizen journalists with civil society actors from Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, West Bank/Gaza and Yemen. The six-week online course will guide 60 participants from these countries to work on ideas for multimedia public service journalism projects.
